WW Jones Cookout Scheduled for May 22nd

The WW Jones Cookout at the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Hwy, Milledgeville, GA 31061 will be on May 22, 2021. Volunteers are needed to set-up and serve food to the veterans. Please arrive by 9:30 am. Food will be served from 11:30 am - 2:30 pm. Meat will be prepared by Post 6686 Eatonton. Food items and paper products are needed to feed 250 veterans, staff and guests. Please coordinate these items with Chairman Dick Dickens at 706-485-5322 (home) or 706-816-9317 (cell). If you are unable to donate food or paper products, financial donations can be sent to State Headquarters at P.O. Box 3025, Macon, GA 31205. Please put WW Jones Cookout on the Memo Line. District Commanders and Presidents, please get the word out to your Posts. We look forward to a large turnout to support our Veterans in the Georgia War Home.

CIC Hal Roesch Visits Georgia Again

Commander-in-Chief Hal Roesch was in Georgia again to visit members and Auxiliary and to install the incoming District 6 Commander Denisa "Dee" Adams. He visited Post 6605 Warner Robins on Friday, the Department recruiting event in Perry on Saturday, the District 6 Convention, and Post 6330 in Jonesboro on Saturday evening.

National Convention in Baltimore is Canceled

Email from the National Adjutant General of the VFW: We have been informed by representatives of the Baltimore Convention Center that, due to circumstances beyond its control, the Baltimore Convention Center will not be able to accommodate our contractual needs for the 2021 National Convention. As such, it is not possible to hold the 2021 National Convention in Baltimore. We are in the process of exploring other feasible options to conduct a convention at alternative locations. As soon as those options are available, they will be presented to the Council of Administration for consideration of the alternative locations, and a determination on where and how to hold our National Convention.  What this means: We are not going to Baltimore for the National Convention They are looking at alternative locations and setups. VFW, Team Red, White & Blue Join Forces For Veterans

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 22, 2021) – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) proudly announced today it has joined forces with Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) through a memorandum of understanding focused on increasing veterans’ access to a combined health and wellness network, while offering camaraderie and support from fellow service members, veterans and their families. Founded more than a decade ago, Team RWB’s mission is to enrich the lives of America’s veterans through health and wellness. The organization is comprised of nearly 200 chapters and communities, made up of over 217,000 members, called Eagles, the majority of whom are post-9/11 veterans. “Camaraderie, commitment and service are core values to both our organizations, and together, we’ll be unstoppable in our quest to ensure a better quality of life for every American veteran,” said Hal Roesch, VFW national commander.
