Join us for #ThankBK Week

Image
Dear VFW and Auxiliary Department and Post leaders, With the pandemic and social distancing guidelines still impacting many cities across the nation, this year Hal will encourage members to safely visit their local Burger King restaurant the week of Flag Day, June 14-18, 2021. Whether you dine in, use the drive-thru or have Burger King delivered, it’s important for each of us to find ways to show our appreciation to Burger King. Since 2007, Burger King franchisees have raised more than $6.5 million for the program, helping the VFW to provide more than $12 million in assistance to America’s military and veteran families. More details and support elements to this important occasion will be included in the email from Hal next week. Please utilize the materials he will provide, as well as your communication channels to help ensure VFW and Auxiliary members participate in this nationwide event!

National Convention Update - Kansas City

Image
Yesterday, the VFW National Council of Administration voted on and approved the decision to execute a business only, 122nd VFW National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri.  The vote came just one week after the VFW announced the impossibility of the event taking place at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland as originally planned, due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The 122nd VFW National Convention will take place July 31 – August 3, 2021. The tentative business agenda can be accessed here.    This remains a fluid situation and more information, to include housing specifics will be made available as details are confirmed.  The VFW thanks everyone for their patience and flexibility as together we work to navigate these challenging times.

National Convention in Baltimore is Canceled

Email from the National Adjutant General of the VFW: We have been informed by representatives of the Baltimore Convention Center that, due to circumstances beyond its control, the Baltimore Convention Center will not be able to accommodate our contractual needs for the 2021 National Convention. As such, it is not possible to hold the 2021 National Convention in Baltimore. We are in the process of exploring other feasible options to conduct a convention at alternative locations. As soon as those options are available, they will be presented to the Council of Administration for consideration of the alternative locations, and a determination on where and how to hold our National Convention.  What this means: We are not going to Baltimore for the National Convention They are looking at alternative locations and setups. National will communicate an update as soon as a decision is made. Stand by...  What it does NOT mean: That there will be no National Convention That anything has c...
